Dear Customers,

Many of you have contacted us today due to problems browsing the internet or accessing services hosted with Real World (e.g. VoIP or Web Hosting). The simplest explanation to this is that earlier today Telstra broke the internet in Australia.

By providing an internet wireless hotspot in your cafe, restaurant, hotel/motel or caravan park your customers will have another good reason to choose your services. Internet connectivity has become a key part of our digital lives from the business meeting where a customer may need to access their office server or to keep friends updated with a new facebook photo eating in your restaurant.

To give our hard working technical engineers a break over the Christmas period we will be responding only to emergency calls from existing customers on a support contract. This would cover an issue like a key service becoming unavailable but not when you burn the turkey or run out of beer.

Regular work and support will be closed from the 23rd December until the 4th January.

Over the last two months we have seen a particular rise in the number of hack attempts on Voice over IP PBX systems, both on our network and off our network. An unfortunate number of these attacks have been successful at breaking into customer PBX systems and then making rogue calls using customer's Voice over IP services.

Sometimes in life we are presented with a solution to a problem that looks great. It seems to solve all our problems and give us exactly what we need. But often when we look a little closer at the solution we can see that it is ineffective, or sometimes even worse than the problem.
