Open Source Web Development

A lot of the websites we develop benefit from using open source software. This software is developed collaboratively and is used extensively through out the world for web business sites.

We actively participate in the development of a number of open source projects. Businesses can benefit from open source technology in many ways:

1. Lower development costs (as a lot of the software is already written you pay for extensive customisation, theming and module development rather than the whole project).
2. Faster development time lines (due to the large existing and continuing growing codebase time is saved in delivering proven and tested solutions)
3. No developer lock-in (by not using proprietary systems you are free to use many developers anywhere in the world to change or maintain your site)
4. Many large online website and communities use open source software (eg. Sony BMG, Foreign Affairs, recovery.gov, the White House)

We mainly use Drupal CMS (or framework) for complex websites, Wordpress for blog only sites and Magento for eCommerce stores.
